Kimberly Amelsberg Martina Amelsberg Dear Kimberly, Congratulations on your White Coat Day, which is the culmination of an incredible commitment to the medical profession and your drive to put the needs of patients and caregivers first. You have already succeeded over a number of challenges to get to this point in your life and career. We are convinced that Brown is the ideal place for you to advance even further in a pursuit of lifelong learning and continuous growth. We are very proud of you and your achievements. With love, Martina, Collin and Andree & Helen
Rhoda Andemichael Rhim Andemichael Congratulations on making it out of the trenches!! Even though I always make fun of you for scamming your way into med school, it’s still crazy to think you’re actually there and are training to be a doctor. What’s important now is that you keep your eye on the bag and unlock your trauma-based work ethic and land your residency in cosmetic derm or whatever else you end up doing. By this point you probably have figured out what your academic boundaries are so make sure between all the studying and anki you find time to sleep, cook, and actually exist as a person outside of school. At this point you’ve already started med school but ish is getting real with the white coat ceremony. Just enjoy the vibes and let your memories of study abroad in Greece carry you through med school and into residency. As nicki once said, “stay in school, don’t ever be lazy, don’t you ever complain about hard work, hard work pays off.” See ya soon, Rhim
Rhoda Andemichael Zaid Tecleb Congratulations Rhoda for your great achievement. You worked so hard for your whole life and now you are living your dream. You are changing the world with your education and hard work. I am so proud of you because you always did the right thing and are a good person and role model. I appreciate you so much because you always helped me even when you were little. Now you are an independent young woman and you are doing great things. I am so happy to celebrate you and your accomplishment. Have fun and good job with everything. Love, Mom
Rhoda Andemichael Aman Andemichael Hey Rhoda, congrats on starting medical school. I know getting here was a long road, but I'm proud of you. I know you are going to do amazing and if you need any help just reach out to me. All the best, Aman
Rhoda Andemichael Michael Andemichael If there is one person in this world born to help people, the poor, sick, elderly, and women, that is Rhoda. You were raised to be a doctor, and now you're on the long but rewarding path to realizing your dreams. I've always been pleased with your accomplishments since kindergarten, Rhodity. You always make me happy and proud of you as a father. The next eight years will set the course for your future, so we count on you to work hard to overcome any obstacles on the way to a successful future. Eight years are like eight days, so study hard. I'm constantly rooting for you to succeed in your goals. Family members are delighted and proud of you. Joe declared, "I have no doubts at all that she will succeed." Therefore, everyone is on your side, and we pray that God will enable you to realize your dreams. We all love you and wish you good luck.  With love, Dad

Maguire Anuszewski Loren Anuszewski Maguire, you’ve always been giving, loving, and kind. When you were just a little guy riding in the basket of the grocery cart, you sang, “If you broke down, I would tow ya!” You’ve never denied helping anyone–ever. You’ve always been selfless. So, it’s no surprise that you’ve chosen a career that will allow you to “tow” the “broken down” who come to you in their most vulnerable, desperate time of need. The road you have chosen is not a short, easy one; it’s a long, arduous one. However, the rewards you will receive in helping others will be worth all the hours of learning, the late nights of studying, and the dreaded, difficult assessments. All your future patients are going to appreciate your comforting demeanor, the peace you will bring to their chaos, and the knowledge and skill you will bring to solving their problems. We are so proud of you and are happy to share you with the medical community in which you will someday make your indelible mark. When you were born, we sent out your birth announcement to share your presence with the world. On it were the words– “A star is born.” No truer words have ever existed. You’ve been and continue to be our shining star! On the day that you receive your white coat, keep shining and start towing! We love you more than words can say! “Just pretend you’re in the lumberyard and go “all”out.” We love you! Love, Mom & Dad
Maguire Anuszewski Sandy Cyr Grandson,
It is so amazing that you are committed to becoming a doctor. Your mother was the first one in our family to graduate from college. And now you have four years of college behind you and are getting your first white coat in medical school. I am so proud of you. Also know that Pup is looking down on you and is also so happy for what you have already accomplished and the acquisition of all the knowledge of medical techniques that lie ahead in your future. I feel so honored that you are our grandson.
I love you always, Numna
Jonathan Arditi   Jonathan, It has been our greatest joy to watch you grow and become such a capable, kind and caring young man. Your journey started as that little preschool boy who was amazed to run around inside the Giant Heart at the Franklin Institute. Each spot inside that heart you gleefully asked "Where am I now?..Mommy!" and "What is does this do?.. Daddy". We had to explain each and every part of that heart. At your preschool graduation, you proudly announced to the world you were going to be a doctor. And you have accomplished that goal to become a caring doctor with a heart as BIG the one you ran through at the Franklin Institute. You've turned the diagnosis of twiddle bugs into your deep study of genomics and bioinformatics that will help to conquer disease. You have truly earned the privilege of wearing your white coat with honor, integrity, and compassion that we are sure will benefit many in years to come. Much love always, Dad, Mom & Annie

Darren Danaie Moe Danaie Babajoon asked me to always be a positive member of the society. I asked you the same. And boy, have you excelled in taking those words to heart. You have shined at every stage of your journey from elementary school through Georgetown University and now medical school! You have accomplished all that while inspiring many in every step of your journey!

My advice is to never underestimate your accomplishments. In the past two years alone, you moved to a new state, worked full-time, studied for MCAT and volunteered. In addition, you secured your own internships and even got published.

Your determination, hard work, and courage are gifts. Never underestimate those gifts, and more importantly embrace them.

As you go through your life’s journey, you have all the foundation to be an excellent physician and human being. You have always been so generous of yourself and humble about your accomplishments. You have proven to me over and over again that when you face real life storms, your calmness overcomes all difficulties. You are a quick thinker and problem solver and always go above and beyond to help others. I cannot wait to see the impact you will have on the world, and I feel truly blessed to have a son that truly is the personification of what Babajoon asked, “being a positive member of the society.’

You are full of love and goodness. My Dr. Darren Danaie! Need I say more? You deserve the best of everything in this world.
Much Love, Dad (Moe)
Darren Danaie Shabnam Foroughi My Dearest Darren,
It is a pleasure and honor to be attending your white coat ceremony this week. This a
memorable and unforgettable moment for me as your mother.

From the day that I held you in my arms and saw your warm and beautiful smile, I knew that
you were a kind and loving child. I am so delighted to see that your kindness and
compassionate personality will now be your most valuable asset in taking care of others and for the hope and goal of improving the health and well being of many who will cross your path in your professional journey to be a physician.

I know it takes a lot of effort and dedication to make it to this point, not only you were
committed to your education in the past years, but you also have the best personal skills to
become a well-rounded and caring physician. I still remember your intuition for science and
your commitment to learning and improving your knowledge. I know you have a long and hard journey ahead and I am confident that your will go great. All that aside, your personality of caring and respecting others is the most valuable talent that you have with you. As your
journey becomes harder and challenges you, always remember that you can face them with
courage and the next day will always be better.

All things considered, I know that you will be the best doctor that any patient would appreciate to have because in addition to your medical education, you have an innate sense of compassion, social responsibility and empathy that is so hard to find.

Shabnam
With Love, Mom
Hari Dandapani Bhuvaneswari Dandapani Hari, Do you remember? It was Halloween night when you were in 10th grade. You had returned from tutoring robotics for underprivileged students and so had no time to get your outfit for trick or treating. You grabbed my hospital scrubs and went out with friends. Suddenly, a spark rose in my mind…perhaps one day you will become a doctor like me…

Fast forward 7 years later, my heart swells with pride seeing you in your white coat. As I am fading into the horizons of my career, I see you as a link with my past, that gives me a reason for tomorrow. You darken my hair, quicken my steps, restore my vision, and give me humor. You fill your mother’s eyes with tears of joy!! You provide me with that security and maturity and most of all, hope, not only for your family, but for those who you will care for.

The white coat symbolizes honesty, hard work, and dedication. Never forget why you choose this field…it is all about caring ..under any circumstance. Once a doctor, always a doctor.
Best wishes to you for a bright future. Love you Hari!
Mom, Dad, Niki, Abi, Jambu, Grandma and entire family.

Abby Frenkel Barbi Kaplan Frenkel Dear Abby,
We recently came across a time capsule letter you wrote to yourself upon graduating middle school which you opened at your high school graduation. In it you wrote about how important it is to lead with empathy and noted that you measured your success by your ability to help others achieve their own goals. You ended by stating that your future goal is always to do what is right for those in your care. We are so proud of the young woman you have become and can't wait to see what you do as you dedicate yourself to being a compassionate physician. We will always be there to support you throughout your career.
We love you! Mom and Dad

As you don your white coat we will be cheering not only this milestone but also the many, many forks in the med school road to come, in which you will no doubt apply the same resilience, curiosity, and tenacity you have shown thus far. You do us proud every day.

Anwen Lin Eric Lin Dearest Anwen,

“Would you do a flap or skin graft?” Thanks for indulging in our dinner conversations on what we both enjoy, thinking about reconstruction options, while your mom and brother protested how these visuals affected their appetite. We were so happy for you that you found meaningfulness doing research on aging at Buck and working with dementia patients, followed by acceptance to PLME! Through tribulations from the pandemic, explorations of a variety of college experiences, you discovered your love of Brown’s Emergency Medical Services. Still hard to imagine a 5’3” driver of a huge ambulance :) As you dove into the vast world of medical school, we could palpate your excitement of doing laminectomy, thoracotomy, and figuring out reasons for that subject’s lung abnormality. We appreciate you sharing your emphasis on sleep, personal records at the gym, and ways to manage your busy schedule, and of course updates on Mochi. As you continue into this marvelous field of medicine, you will further experience the joy of draining the first abscess, delivering a baby, removing a cancer, restoring form and function of a trauma victim, and sometimes just being there for another human being during their most vulnerable times. We are so privileged to walk along this path with you and excited to see you realizing your dream.

Congratulations!!
Love, Mom, Dad, and Kyle

Justin Rhee James Rhee Dear Justin,

So here you are. Putting on a white coat. Wearing a stethoscope. Listening to Korotkoff sounds. Being sprayed with formaldehyde. Memorizing immunology pathways. Examining patients. Writing H&Ps.

Nicole Tanda Sabina Tanda From the very beginning it was obvious that your light shone just a little brighter than most. The sparkle in your eyes, your zest for life drew people to you. You were a natural leader from the beginning.
In school you soon showed us what you are capable of. You were gifted in so many ways. You stepped up to fulfill your potential, to live up to your expectations. You set your bar high, overcame obstacles and ventured on to embark onto this enormously long and arduous journey to study Medicine. With the path that you have chosen you have the potential to do great things. And the responsibility to use your wisdom wisely. People will look to you for answers, trust you with their lives. To care for them. Stay humble. With your knowledge you can make a real difference in people’s lives, leave a mark. You will encounter more setbacks and hurdles in the years to come, never take no for an answer. Bend don’t break.
I hope one day in the future, your sacrifices will lead to a life of satisfaction, fulfillment, gratitude, and happiness. May you find balance and meaning in all you do.
You have already achieved so much I cannot wait and see where your journey takes you. Thank you for all the joy, amazement, and laughter you bring to my life.
You are a good person.
My heart could not be fuller and prouder

Endless love Mom
Nicole Tanda Stephan Tanda My dearest Nicole! There is a saying; we go through life, we shed our skins, we become ourselves. You have started early with the shedding of your skin, and with every shedding came knowing increasingly what you want and then truly going for it, going for it with everything you have got! From leaving Europe behind and driving for an early decision at Northwestern, to engaging at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, to riding in ambulances to bridging the pandemic hole with Dartmouth to choosing Brown, at every turn it became increasingly clear that you wanted to help people, not only to become a doctor but to lead a life of service to others. I am so enormously proud of you! Yes, you are very gifted, yes you are incredibly smart, yes you care deeply about those around you, but, most importantly, you persevere! You are so committed to your goal that no hurdle is too hard to overcome, no setback is too painful to learn from and no path is too demanding to take to continue your journey. And amidst all of that you can be a hilariously funny goofball who makes us laugh, even grumpy papa bear! As you go through medical school and what lies beyond, yes, it will be tough, you will shed more skins and become an even more caring, brilliant, and wise woman and doctor. I will always be there, with enormous pride and deep love. Enjoy your White Coat Ceremony! Dad.

Sarah,

Reaching medical school is an achievement of the highest magnitude. It has required years of pushing yourself to your limits. It has required sacrifices. It has exposed you to intense stress. But you took the ‘shot’, you persevered, and your commitment to this goal has paid off. Your excellence in so many areas - academics, altruism, athletics - helped you achieve this dream. We are so happy for you, and so proud of you.

We know that you will engage at Brown Med with the same passion and vigor that you have brought to all the other challenges in your life. Medical training will continue to bring adversity, but will also bring opportunity. Your words and actions will be powerfully meaningful to your patients.

“With great power comes great responsibility” - Uncle Ben to Peter Parker (Spiderman)

As you go through your medical training, and as a doctor, we know that you will use your powerful words and hands to support and heal.  The medical world is fortunate to have you joining it.

Congratulations on starting the next step of your journey. We love you and support you unconditionally. You’re amazing!

Joshua Woo Jonathan Woo Congratulations on starting medical school at Alpert! Our family is very proud of you! As you already feel, medical school is challenging in many ways with so much to study and learn. As I reflect my own medical school time, I cherish my memories despite the difficulties. When things were very hard, I used to go to ER and remind myself that I will be able to make a difference in my patient’s life someday. Being a doctor is more than a career. I hope you will find joy, friendship and meaning in the process.
I wish you all the best. We are always here with you

Timothy Wynter Shaun Wynter Timothy Wynter, super achiever of the Wynter family.

Hard work, high standards and achievement at all levels of your schooling and in your sport, representing your country of birth at the pinnacle of amateur sport, the Olympics, has taken you on an interesting , fulfilling journey. It’s good to see that you have chosen medicine. The support of your family, especially your mother’s constant and unwavering support has been instrumental in getting you to where you are now. No doubt Dad, Kim, Chris, Grandma and Grandad have always been there for you. Timothy Wynter Dorothy Wynter Timothy Wynter

Dear Grandson,

We are so proud of you. You have always brought such pleasure to our lives. From infancy to date, you have been hugely enthusiastic in all phases of your daily life and education.

Your ‘written’ account of your first week at Mummy’s prep school is still pasted on my bedroom door! Fortunately, at that time you also gave be a verbal account, enabling me to interpret the artistic hieroglyphics that completely covered the sheet of white paper.

You have progressed so far since then. In sport you represented your island of birth at the Olympics. You travelled far and wide to many countries all over the world, representing your country in swimming competitions.

In academics you have been outstanding. I was so pleased when you studied epidemiology at my former post-graduate college London University. Now you are accepted at Brown University in the US to start your career in medicine.

Congratulations Tim. We look forward with great anticipation to the fourth generation of Medical Doctors in the Wynter family. We wish you great success and happiness.
