Honors

Eli Adashi, Medical Science, has been invested as a member of the American Academy of Sciences and Letters. He will also receive an honorary doctoral degree from his alma mater, Tel Aviv University, in May 2026.

Erin Barlow, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named director of the Obstetrics and Gyneclogy Residency Program.

E. Christine Brousseau, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named medical director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center (OGCC).

Renee Eger, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named the MidLife Center medical director at Women & Infants Hospital.

Nicolas Fawzi, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry, has been named one of Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers. Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their field and publication year in the Web of Science Core Collection, indicating exceptional influence in their respective disciplines.

Dana Guyer, Medicine, a palliative care physician at Brown University Health Cancer Institute, has been honored with the Dr. Herbert Rakatansky Award for exemplary professionalism and humanitarian service from the Rhode Island Medical Society. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals for extraordinary professionalism, compassion, and dedication to their patients.

Alisse Hauspurg, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named the Postpartum Medical Director at Women & Infants Hospital.

Martha Kole-White, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named the medical director of Labor and Delivery at Women & Infants Hospital.

Peter Soukas, Surgery, has been appointed chief medical officer of InspireMD. He is the director of vascular medicine and Peripheral Vascular Interventional Laboratory at The Miriam Hospital. He also directs the Vascular and Endovascular Medicine Fellowship Program. 

Corey E. Ventetuolo, Medicine, has been appointed director of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Brown University Health and The Warren Alpert Medical School, after a national search. She completed her residency and chief residency at Brown before pursuing fellowship training and an early faculty appointment at Columbia University, where she earned a Master of Science in Patient-Oriented Research. She returned to Brown in 2011 as associate director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center and medical director of the ECMO Program. These teams achieved major milestones, becoming one of the first Pulmonary Hypertension Association-accredited Centers of Comprehensive Care in the U.S. and earning designation as an ELSO Center of Excellence.

Grants

Nick Cauldron,  Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, received $153,560 for “TAC1 Tango: Evolutionary rewiring of a transcriptional circuit for azole drug resistance in Candida auris” from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Sponsor is Christina Cuomo.                            

Margaret E. Crane, Psychiatry and Human Behavior, received $977,325 for “Adapting the Fiscal Mapping Process to Improve the Financial Sustainability of Implementation and Mental Health Organizations” from the National Institute of Mental Health.

Nicolas L. Fawzi, Molecular, Cellular Biology Biochemistry, received $248,200 for “Research using structural biology to design new therapies for ALS” from the Radala Foundation for ALS. 

Martin S. Taylor, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, received $250,000 for “The Structure and Function of the Cerebral Cavernous Malformation Complex in Coronary Artery Disease” from Health Resources in Action.

Laura B. Whiteley and Rani Elwy, Psychiatry and Human Behavior, received $447,379 for “Improving The Treatment of Depression for Youth with HIV,” a subaward through Rhode Island Hospital from the National Institute of Mental Health.
