Alpert Medical School Reopening Plan

An update on current operations, August 2021.

Dear AMS Students,

We are writing to share the wonderful news that effective July 1, 2021, The Warren Alpert Medical School will return to in-person curricular and extracurricular activities. We’ll continue to observe some public health protocols as we enjoy being together again as a community. The University's approval of our plans to return to full in-person capacity for the Fall 2021 semester was largely contingent upon state guidance, as well as our remarkably high vaccination rates which, among our student population, is presently at 98%!

While we recognize that you are all eager to return to the building, utilize the gym and study space, participate in full in-person student group activities, and enjoy the important social aspects of being a medical student, we wanted to share a few important reminders. Currently, because faculty, staff and students who utilize AMS facilities will be in and out of health care settings, we continue to expect strict adherence to mask use while indoors with the exception of while eating or drinking. Unvaccinated individuals are expected to maintain mask use at all times while in the building. Lastly, we ask that individuals who are not feeling well refrain from entering the building at any time.

We look forward to seeing all of you in person and, as always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
